Rose Quartz and Serenity: Pantone colors of the year 2016

Pantone is doing something different this year. For the first time, Pantone is naming two complimentary colors of the year.
With Rose Quartz (13-1520) and Serenity (15-3919), Pantone offers a softer take on on color for 2016. Rose Quartz and Serenity offer a balance, the warmer hues of Rose Quartz complimenting the cooler tone of Serenity’s blue.
Pantone’s choice for this year reflects a the trend of “gender blur” that is currently occurring in fashion and is spilling over into other areas of design, as well. It is a unilateral approach toward color that coincides with increased societal attitudes toward gender equality and fluidity. The combination of the warm embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue reflects a soothing sense of order and peace.

Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate and inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.
